Announcing! Our Cam Rehab Service What if you could put those old "boat anchor" cams back in production and save money by doing it? You know, the cams in the tool crib with the inch of dust on them that your people have been stepping over for years. Its no secret that times are tough. Making use of what you already have and saving money makes a lot of sense these days.
Saving 30-40% and still getting a precision cam from Modern Cam That's why Modern Cam is reintroducing a service that we provided years ago, cam re-lines and re-cuts on our largest cams , end toolslides. Depending on whether you need a new guard or not, you could save 30-40% versus the purchase of a new set and still have the precision cam quality that you have become accustomed to getting from Modern Cam.
A brief overview of the Re-Line and Re-Cut Process Re-Lines: For those situations where the cam track is too worn to use or the rise that you need is smaller than anything that you have in the crib. (1) You send us an Acme end slide , new style or old style.
(2) The upper half of the cam is sawed off to get rid of the working rise portion that is worn or perhaps has a throw that is of no use to you. (3) A new piece of material is welded to the bottom half of the old cam.
(4) The new rise is re-cut and the approach is blended for a smooth roller transition. (5) The cam is flame hardened and polished and shipped back to you as a "like new" precision cam.
Re-Cuts: Very simply, if you have an end slide with a smaller rise than what you need for an active job and the dwell area is in good shape. (1) You send us an Acme end slide , new style or old style. (2 ) The campath is annealed (3) The new campath is milled (4) The campath is carburized and hardened (5) The like-new money maker cam is sent back and put into production. Give us a call at (800) 959-1147 to discuss your situation the next time you need a different end slide for your Acme. We will further explain what we can do and how much you will save.
