Modern Cam has been using proprietary software for years to develop complete and accurate cam motions for generating CNC G-code to used on our 4-axix Mazak horizontal and vertical machining centers. We have also used some commercial software to aid in computing tables and graphs to analyze displacement, velocity, acceleration, pulse, pressure angles, cam shaft torque, and other characteristics of a proposed configuration. There are many options and considerations to make when designing a cam follower system to provide motion control for a high speed piece of equipment.
